Ump blows call, Orioles tied with Yanks for AL East lead

Mark Teixeira reinjured his left calf diving into first base while avoiding a double-play in the bottom of the 9th inning.. Or so we thought. Umpire Jerry Meals called him out at first on a play that everyone and their mother knew was safe. "Sometimes you wonder if the umpires are just trying to get out of there," said a frustrated Teixeiria, "They don't want you to make a comeback. They want to go home because those were terrible calls. It is what is is. We are out there fighting. I'm out there playing on one leg. I wish it had gone my way." "I'm probably going to get fined," Tex later told reporters. "But I don't care, really. I'm out there fighting. We are out there fighting. When you are battling like we are battling and they can't get get a call right, that pissed you off, it really does."

Minutes later Yankees skipper Joe Girardi got into a yelling match with a reporter in the clubhouse before being calmed by Yankees security. Tempers were definitely flaring in Baltimore on Saturday night, and you can bet your tail that today's game at Camden Yard will be a heated one.
